Entitled 28-year-old demands that younger sister hand over expensive designer handbag gifted by godmother, mom advises to let her have it: "It would suit me better"

I've never been the type to want a designer handbag. I absolutely have my vices, but the thought of spending money on something that I carry around and could easily lose or ruin just makes me anxious. It's not just general anxiety, either; it stems from an actual childhood experience. You see, in middle school, I was pretty interested in fitting in. One year, Vera Bradley purses were all the rage, and I managed to convince my mom to get me one. It had a really cute owl print, and I would honestly still wear it to this day. Unforunately, I ended up spilling food on it that not only stained it, but also gave it a permanent seafood smell that never quite went away.

In our story today, a 25-year-old woman is gifted a designer handbag by her godmother. She's never owned one – but not for a lack of interest! In fact, she's wanted one just like it for years. However, her entitled sister takes the fact that she doesn't have a massive collection as a gift wasted and demands the bag for herself.

    frauleinsteve Tell your godmother what's going on, especially with your mother urging you to give it away. Shame the f out of your mom. Because if you don't, then your sister will steal it with your mother's approval, or your sister will destroy it (believing that if she can't have it, no one will). Good luck. Your mom sks, btw.

    MOGicantbewitty Luxury purses usually have serial numbers... OP should find it and take many many photos of the bag, including that serial number. She may not want to use a permanent marker bc it could affect the value. Though it is a great idea

    If you use social media, post the bag with an effusive thanks to godmother, and tell her you will use it frequently & treasure it always. Mention that you will think of how much you love her every time you use it. This is the effective equivalent of peeing on the fire hydrant, everyone will associate the bag with you/ how much you love it/ how much you love godmother.
